Vote Out Legislators Who Didn't Go Back to Work

As Florida is reopening, many of us want to get back to work, but there are some who refuse. Not because they get more from unemployment benefits; on the contrary, many are millionaires. Those who refuse to go back to work happen to be your elected legislators, who recently voted “no” to a special session to fix the problems we are facing with the coronavirus.

In other words, the same people who get paid by our tax dollars won’t do the job we are paying them for, yet demand we get back to work so they can get their haircut.

Legislators need to get back to work and fix the unemployment insurance program they broke. This isn’t a new problem, it’s just affecting many more people now.  Almost 2 million claims have been submitted to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, and as of May 15, after three months, less than half of those who applied have gotten one payment!  And for me, I just found out by calling repeatedly, that my application is not in the system and I have to reapply. Although I have a confirmation email that says it’s being processed.
